Life has never been bed of roses for me. I have always had to fight for everything. I have seen the worst shape that life con turn into but I have never given up on life that’s why I have achieved some of all those, I have wanted. I don’t know if it is my life practice that has made this in my mind or something else but I believe if you want something you have to prove that you worth it. You will be tested so many times and you have to pass, so that your credibility and desire for said the thing can be proved before the ONE who can make you have it.
I have encountered so many problems in my life and the only tool I had in my pocket was my self belief. I can do it and no matter what it takes if I want it I shall have it. And one more thing I would like to add, Some one up there is happy to me I don’t know why and I believe that’s why all of my hard work and dedication and self belief always pay off.
I would like to share my first ever personal decision I took and that decision made me near to loose my hope. As I finished my graduation I was thinking of what to do next and I had the idea of making a web portal of the most business offices populated area of Islamabad that is called Blue Area. This place had almost ten thousand offices at that time. I had the idea of making a web portal that will award each page to every business office that web page will consist of their contact information and their message to their ultimate consumer along with what ever they wanted on their page.
It was a very big task as no one had ever tried this in Pakistan before. Pakistan is a growing economy and people were not much aware of the growing involvement of internet in our daily life. So I was planning to invest on the market that either will respond me or not I really did not know at that time. But I carried out working on the project. I distributed the project in three phases. First was to collect the data of the field of Blue Area. That was a big task and I did not want to spend much time on it. I advertised in the daily paper on Saturday and Sunday luckily I got good response as I had called for students and young people to make some good instant money. Any ways I had developed an information form for this purpose. All they had to do is to go in the field and fill out this form from the office. And to avoid repetition I distributed them according to area in groups. They were given a time limit of three days to finish the job.
The next phase was to have a web site designer. As we did not had much awareness about having a software house so I approached some of my friends who were studying web designing. I discussed the project. They all were convinced with the sense as they had the knowledge of what I was talking about.
So two of my friends got ready to come to my place for the time till they finish designing my web site. They showed me so many designs but I liked a simple yet elegant one that was sophisticated and eye catchy. And I approved the design so they stared working on it. And in the mean while the filed work was completed and I had the complete data of the area I was aiming.
When ever I used to sit alone then only thing used to come on my mind was “can I do it” and I always used to say to my self “yes I will”. Hard work, patience, right decision at right time and element of luck are the secrets of the success.
Finally web site with all the attributes was ready to be launched. And it meant that the first two phases of the project was completed. And now it was the last phase of the project that was the collection of money phase. And I did not have to hire any one for the job as I had chosen my self for the job.
What I planned for the job was that I had the whole web site on my lap top and I would go to every office and would show them their page and they would praise it and would give me the money. It was as simple.
But He was planning something else. First day I went off for collection phase and first office I went to. Sat there showed them the web site, shared the idea. Every one liked the idea and I showed them their page they also praised it. Them I told them that I was charging five hundred rupees for this page. Every one got up from their seats like I had abused them or something. I was surprised. Their boss started saying “did I ask to make this page for me?” and I was out of the office. This was the story of first day. Where ever I went I had the same response.
I went to the field for one whole week and I could not get any kind of response. I was convinced that if I want to make this work I shall have to change the strategy. But how was the question.
People had started saying that I had wasted everything as there had been weeks but there was not single penny revenue generated from the project. And most importantly I was criticized because I choose my self for the collection phase and project was stuck on that very phase. So this project was not only about my investment but I also had to prove my self to the people around me.
One night I came home thinking about so many options about how I can change the course of my work and I picked the news paper and started turning the pages. And suddenly I screamed with joy and hope by reading news.
In Pakistan there are business community unions in every business oriented area. And Blue Area also had the union and every union has a president who is selected with elections. The president makes rules and regulations for the whole community to follow and benefit the subject living under it.
He was my trump card and last chance. If I could not get out of him I shall loose everything thing in which every thing was my trust. That I did not want to loose at any cost. So I did some home work. First met with some people that were around him like his personal assistance and some other people and then according to their opinion keeping in mind about the liking and disliking of his I developed a web page for the president of the union.
And that day arrived when he had given me appointment of ten minutes. He was sitting in front of me I spent two minutes about the web site and its merits and then I turned to president page and kept talking about the page that was consisted of the work that he had done for the community in his tenure. He kept shaking his head.
Then I played my last card that was the launching ceremony of the web site by his name. He had always wanted most of the sympathies of the people and was planning to take part in the up coming general elections. I had all this in my mind and I told him how this is a unique launching ceremony and no one has ever done this before and he will be the first one who will do the honor of doing such a great event. And we could call upon news televisions for the coverage as it’s the first time ever in Pakistan commercially.
He was sitting then he got up started walking around me and I was talking. I said we could ask the information technology minister for the inauguration event. He said what was I looking for from the web site I said only five hundred rupees from every member. He said its too much you have to lower the price of member ship as when you talk about such a big opening every one is going to subscribe in it.
So we finalized the deal on three hundred rupees per member and he made it a must for every office member to subscribe in the web site as it is only for their area. And the launching ceremony night came and I could see every giant of Pakistan business was present there in the party as it was the call from the president of the union. In his welcome speech he introduced me as a creative mind behind www.bluearea.info. And all those people who did not even let me in their office were greeting me with warm wishes. I kept a smile on my face and deep in my heart I was thanking GOD for keeping my belief in my self alive and for giving me mind to think and decide.
This project was a hit in one week time every office bearer had subscribed. I went to meet the president of the union and I offered fifty thousand rupees from the collection the development found of the union and thanked him as much as I could because it all could not be possible without his appreciation and he thanked me because he had got a ruling party ticket for election that he was looking for.
Now looking back and enjoying those memories remind me of only one thing that never loose hope as sun will do rise on your horizon
