“I really want this please help me”. She was begging me and I felt like she deserved it more then I do. So I gave her the envelope. I started walking. I was coming back from work and today was pay day. All of the employees were given salaries today and like every one else in used to wait for this day every month. But I could not realize what was in that woman’s voice that I could not keep my self from handing over my salary envelope to her.
When I reached home my wife asked about the salary, then I realized what I had done. It was useless to go behind that woman now and it was also against my ego to go and look for that woman and ask her back my money. So I lied to my wife that I had not received my salary today.
As she heard that she started shouting. I pretended as I did not hear any thing and go to my bed. I was tired so I slept. My wife woke me up saying that a friend of mine was waiting for me.
I went up to him. He said he wanted to talk to me about something very serious and the way he was talking had taken all my attentions. I asked him to go out for a walk where we could talk freely. We went out. On our walk my friend was hesitating to start the discussion. I stopped and asked him what is wrong that he is so tense about.
He said it not about him but it was about me. I looked at him with curious eyes like “just say it” he sat down on a bench and took a long breath and said “I saw you wife with another guy in a coffee shop in noon”. As he said that I dropped my self on the bench like I had lost something very valuable of mine. I was stunned and my eyes were frozen at his face.
All I could say was “you must have been seen some one else” he said no “luckily I had my digital cam with me so I took their pictures” and handed me over his camera in which I could see clearly my wife sitting with a stranger in an inappropriate condition. The camera just fell from my hand and I felt like all the powers in my self were taken from me I could not move.
My friend grabbed me from the shoulders and said “control your self my friend. I think you should go and talk to her about it. May be what we are thinking is not right and there would be some other reason.” But the way they were sitting was telling the whole story. I could not think of anything else except that my wife was cheating on me.
I started walking back and asked my friend not to tell about this to any one until I do not say so. He was my good friend so he promised me and he went to his place.
While I was walking home different kind of things were coming in my mind on one side I was thinking what went wrong between us that she needed another person after all I did for her I left my whole life just for her and this is what she is giving me in reward. Second I was thinking if I tell her about this she might make some new story out of it and would be more careful next time.
I decided not tell her anything about it and wanted to catch her red handed. So what I planned was that I shall pretend that I am going out of city for two days and will stay at my friend’s place that was a rood across my home for two days and from there I can keep an eye on my house and on my wife and who else comes in my house.
I went home and told my wife that I am going out for some days. She did not say much about it and did not even ask where I was going. She kept doing her work. I sat in the living room on my couch and turned on the television. I was watching her but not for once she let me feel that there was anything going on in her life. I wanted to hear that all I was told and all those pictures I saw were wrong and everything was fine as it was always.
She packed my bags and asked me for dinner I was not hungry at all but even then I joined her that she might say something to me there but she did not. We did not speak about anything on the dinner. Then I went to bed and slept.
Next morning I collected my stuff and went to office gave my two day sick leave and came back to my friend’s place where I had to sit and watch my house. In the evening a car came and stopped in front of my door. A guy came out with a bunch of roses and went up to my door and rang the bell. My wife opened the door and they went inside. My house was all dark at that moment and hardly could be seen what was going on inside from the windows.
I waited for some time for that guy to come out but he did not come out and it’s been three hours. So I went up there my self. I had the keys to the door so I went inside. It was all dark and I could not see anything. Suddenly I heard a shout of “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” and for once I thought I had entered some one else’s home. But when the lights come on I saw my wife coming towards me in my favorite color dress and kissed me saying “Happy birthday darling, I love you” and I was surprised. I could not believe my eyes and ears.
She introduced that guy who was her cousin from Las Vegas who had come to visit her. And behind all the guests I also saw that friend of mine who had showed me those pictures smiling at me. Came up to me and said “Happy Birthday Man you can hit me as much as you like but we wanted to surprise you so we planned all this.” I did not know what to do at that time. I had confused expressions on my face at that moment.
My wife grabbed my hand and walked me towards the cake. She lit the candles and asked me to make a wish. So I did and cut the cake, every one clapped and wished me best of everything. I was coming back to my senses.
After some time I took my wife in my lap and wet her lips with mine. And said to every one “I am great full to each and every one of you for giving me such a memorable party. But my wife has committed a very serious crime so she deserves a punishment”. I looked into her eyes that were full of love and compassion for me. “All you people please enjoy the party and don’t forget to lock the gate when you leave.” I went up to my bed holding her in my lap. Locked the room dropped her on the bed and…..
